Disclosure – The Newspaper of the Neighborhoods chronicles the effects of community organizing efforts around the country by covering the stories of local grassroots organizations and the 30-year organizing coalition, National People’s Action. Disclosure is a forum for organizers, community leaders and policymakers to learn about the latest neighborhood issues and their impact across the nation, share new campaign strategies and document important victories.

Disclosure’s mission is to give voice to communities and issues that are often left out of the mainstream media. It is produced to inform and excite people about how community organizing can change their neighborhoods and their lives.

Disclosure articles are written by neighborhood leaders and organizers around the country. It also contains three feature columns, including:

Strategy for the Streets – This column is designed for organizers to learn from each other. Every issue a different organizer shares the “how to” of victories, developing new campaigns, overcoming barriers and implementing new strategies.

The Next Move – This column rotates between the three National People’s Action co-chairpersons: Inez Killingsworth, Brenda LaBlanc and Emira Placios. These three women have over 60 years of community organizing and leadership experience combined ranging on issues from neighborhood safety, banking and housing, education to immigration.

Dynamics of Organizing – Joe Mariano, executive director of the National Training and Information Center and a 30-year veteran organizer uses this column to provide new ideas on organizing and reflections on current issue campaigns.

Published by the National Training and Information Center since 1974, Disclosure comes out six times a year.
